The Museum of the Coastal Bend is hosting a three-in-one event to celebrate its members, recognize area ranchers and give the community a chance to do some holiday shopping from some local vendors.
Eric Ray, curator of exhibits and collections at the museum, said this event is a good way for people who have never been to the museum to come and see what it is all about.
"We've done events like this in the past, and the more events you tie together, the more different people will want to go," he said.
The brand burning is offered by the museum throughout the year to encourage ranchers to add their brands to the growing collection, which is permanently on display and showcases more than 200 brands.
Ten-by-10-inch tiles will be supplied for the branding, and ranchers can call the museum to reserve a tile.
"It's something we're always happy to do," said Ray. "We want to get all the great brand designs from here in the coastal bend here so other people can enjoy them."
The artisans market will include area vendors showcasing their wares right there in the museum, including Devereux Gardens, Minawear, Vela Farms and more.
A portion of the sales, 10 percent of the artisan sales, will go back to the museum's educational programming.
Members and community members can enjoy some shopping while also checking out some of the museum's exhibits.
"We're opening some new exhibits opening up in February, but before that, we've got some temporary events and activities that will be out," he said.
