"And He arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, 'Peace, be still.' And the winds ceased, and there was a great calm."
- Mark 4:38-39
When I go down to the beach, I always say to our ocean, "peace, be still," just like Jesus said during a storm.
At this Christmastime, everyone is storming around trying to get their Christmas shopping done.
Let us stop and take some breaks and remember Jesus' words, "Peace, be still."
Stilled waters become dormant, and fish leave them, so they won't die. I know that if Christ totally stilled the waters, He would have totally killed all of the fish. So, Christ stilled the waters only during a storm.
In life, we face small and large storms, and we do not always have calm waters.
Whether it be a shopping list for presents or facing a serious illness, please let us remember to stop as Jesus did and pray, "Peace, be still."
Dear Lord, please be with each of us as we face the small and large storms of life. Terri, a teacher friend of mine, passed away this week. She had been facing a serious illness and was bedridden but kept a positive attitude and kept her faith. Please be with her family and friends and give them peace during this difficult storm.
