UHV to graduate more than 500 students

University of Houston-Victoria is expected to graduate 538 students at its fall commencement Saturday.

The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in the Leonard E. Merrell Center, 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy.

Seating is open, and family and friends may arrive as early as 10 a.m.

Steven Kaufman, president and CEO of Zeus Mortgage Ltd. and a UHV alumnus, will be the keynote speaker. Kaufman is a leading expert on mortgages and real estate financing. He has coordinated more than $1 billion in real estate financing for companies including American Express, Hewlett Packard and Exxon Mobil.

The UHV School of Nursing will have a pinning ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Merrell Center. More than 100 students graduating from the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Second Degree BSN and Master of Science in Nursing programs will receive special pins.

Marilyn Davis, a Texas State Board of Nursing member, is the keynote speaker for the nursing ceremony.
