Thank you to angel who blessed shopper
Editor, the Advocate:
At a time when most working-class people are struggling to pay their bills, let alone provide a good Christmas for their families, a Christmas angel walked the aisles of Wal-Mart on Wednesday.
As I stood in line at the checkout, a man with kind eyes and a jovial personality was with his daughter checking out ahead of me. The three of us started talking and joking around until I could place my items on the counter. Before I realized what was happening, the clerk grabbed my items to ring up, and I stopped her to let her know they were mine, not his. She said she knew that, but he was paying for them. I was in shock and told him thank you, but I could afford my items. He said he knew that, but God had blessed him, and he was returning the blessing. He insisted that he was going to pay for my items. Though I don't know his name, no amount of thanks will ever be sufficient - not just for the monetary gift but for the gift he blessed my heart with when I repeatedly thanked him. He simply stated, "Don't thank me, thank Him (God), for He has blessed me. Merry Christmas!"
I drove home in tears, thanking God for sending this gentleman my way, because in a world filled with so much negativity, this angel reaffirmed my belief that there still are those who truly love mankind.
To me, he made Christmas what it is meant to be: Love and kindness from the heart and in the name of Christ.
So, whoever you are, wherever you are, you made this my best Christmas ever. Thank you, and God bless you.
