Threats to Calhoun High School just rumors
Rumors of threats directed at Calhoun High School circulated on social media Monday and Tuesday, said Billy Wiggins, Calhoun County school district superintendent.
"The rumor started, and it went viral," Wiggins said. "We stepped up our vigilance and notified police as a precaution."
Wiggins dispelled rumors that the district received threats and that the high school was locked down as a result.
Similar rumors have circulated the last couple of years around the same time, he said.
"Better safe than sorry," Wiggins said. "We take precautions to keep our kids safe."
