As Victoria West head coach Pat Erskine said, it was a tale of two halves.

Victoria West had a 16-point lead at halftime against Victoria East, but the Titans made things interesting in the second half, falling just short of the Warriors, who won 47-44.

East (7-7, 0-1) saw contributions from Datryan Evans (20 points) and Austin Alexander (7 points), but it was no match for West (10-6, 1-0).

"We made a game of it," said East coach John Grammer. "You're going to have adversity in these type of games."

Ruben Trevino led West scorers with 15 points. Erskine explained that with district play starting up, the Warriors have to pull out these type of close games.

"We put the test to them," Erskine said. "It's a good win."
