St. Mary's Altar Society holds Christmas social for members
St. Mary's Altar Society held their meeting and Christmas social Dec. 9 at the activity center. Forty-six members and six guests were present. The Most Rev. David E. Felhauer, the Bishop of the Diocese of Victoria, was a special guest. He gave an inspiring talk about the Feast of The Immaculate Conception. Rev. Dominic A. Boasiako, the pastor, thanked all members for all of the charitable work done.
Food items and monetary donations were brought by the members for the St. Vincent de Paul Society pantry.
Adeld Donalson thanked all that helped with the annual harvest bazaar held in November. It was a beautiful setup and a big success.
Altar care for December is Al and Dorothy Bomba.
Our next coffee and donut social will be Jan. 19 after the 8 a.m. Mass. Dorothy Bomba, social chairperson, thanked all who helped with the socials in November and December.
The new officers for 2014-15 are: Pattie Stevens, president; Margaret Clegg, first vice president; Georgia West, second vice president; Susie Stevens, treasurer; Lorraine Hebert, corresponding secretary; and Geraldine Jurica, recording secretary. Installation will be Jan. 12 at the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
Door prizes were given to members. Then Christmas songs were sung, led by Margaret Clegg, playing the violin.
Rev. Gabriel Mensah gave the Benediction. The meeting adjourned, and the Christmas social hosted by the officers was enjoyed by all.
The next meeting is Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. at the activity center. Men and women of the parish are welcome to join.
