Catholic Daughters meets at Holy Family
A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church by Father Dan Morales recently. Mass was followed by the regular meeting of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court No. 2665. Regent JoAnn Bleier presided and led pledge to the flag.
Bleier thanked all who had participated in the celebration of the Mass.
Liz Schmidt was recognized as a transfer from the Port Lavaca court.
Minutes, thank you cards and correspondence were read by the recording secretary, Jo Chanek. Treasurer Rosalie Phillips gave her report. Circle of Love reports were given by the chairmen of the various committees.
Cheryl Olsovsky, chairwoman of the country store and craft sale, which was Nov. 23 from 2-5 p.m. at Holy Family in St. Peter's Hall and after all weekend Masses, passed out sign-up sheets for volunteers to make posters and workers to help with the sale. Pricing sheets were also available.
Bleier announced that the National Convention is July 16-20, 2014, in Billings, Mont. The court will be allowed two delegates plus the regent. Convention rules and regulations will be presented to the members at the Feb. 25 court meeting.
Social Chairwoman Marcia Neeley thanked hostesses Alma Anzaldua, Berenda Donald, Nancy Frazier, Faye Schlein and Sandra Stelpflug.
Sherry Taylor reported that 55 prayer blankets had been made, and 11 were spoken for. A book with pictures and criteria for obtaining a blanket has been completed.
Father Dan spoke for the good of the order, and Bleier adjourned the meeting until Jan. 28, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Peter's Hall at Holy Family.
