Our Lady of Victory School students in Teresa Childress' literature class used photo editing software and paint to recreate covers from their favorite books.

Logan Rivera, 14, chose to replicate the cover from "The Enchantress: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" by Michael Scott.

"Sometimes, when I feel like life needs a little bit of magic, I pick up a magic book and read it," Logan said.

Students started out with wood blocks and, from there, picked between hand-painting their covers or using images from the Internet.

The projects were on display at the school's library.

"This was the first time I've done this here," Childress said. "The students are really proud of their work. Some of the younger students have come by to admire their pieces."

From "The Giving Tree" to more mature novels like "The Fault in Our Stars," the students' choices covered a wide range of genres, Childress said.

Kelsey Ellett, 14, chose "Divergent" by Veronica Roth, which is about a dystopian metropolis where people are divided into factions based on their character traits.

"I just really liked the overall concept of selflessness in the series," Kelsey said.
