On behalf of all of us in the Victoria ISD, we hope you enjoy a wonderful and restful holiday break with family and friends. The 2013-14 school year has already emerged as a banner year as we have celebrated many outstanding accomplishments with many more to follow. Our continued focus on "every child, every classroom, every day" allows us to enhance classroom support, accelerate student achievement and support teacher quality throughout our 612 square miles of excellence. We realize that these amazing accomplishments could never have been obtained without you and your commitment to serve as a Champion for our Children.
January 2014 has been proclaimed as School Board Recognition month, and this year's theme is Hearts and Hands for Kids. Please join me in thanking our board of trustees for their commitment to our students, staff, schools and community. Of the 1,000-plus school districts across the State of Texas, there are no other school boards that deserve this recognition and celebration more than our very own Victoria ISD Board of Trustees. They are an amazing group of individuals who voluntarily take up the enormous responsibility of governing our schools, and we are extremely proud of them. We are also extremely grateful for the leadership that is provided by our Board of Trustees. Our seven board members serve as a guiding force to an exemplary education and provide extensive opportunities for student success. Their efforts and sound decisions continue to illuminate the path of excellence for the entire Victoria ISD and provide a future of hope and endless possibilities to our students.
Our board of trustees spends countless hours without compensation to establish school policies that reflect our community's belief in public education. They also work closely with staff to set goals that project the vision of our future. Each board member makes personal sacrifices and spends hundreds of hours addressing the needs of our school district. They face complex and demanding challenges that require significant amounts of time and attention. They also serve as the voice of our community, always placing our student's needs first and foremost.
Recognizing our board of trustees for their commitment and sacrifices takes a combined effort from us all. We invite everyone to join us at our regular scheduled board meeting Jan. 16 as we acknowledge these education advocates for their remarkable service to our district. Great leadership always begins with a willing heart, a positive attitude and a desire to make a difference.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our Board of Trustees for bringing these traits to the Victoria ISD and for providing each of us the opportunity to pursue our dreams. Happy holidays.
