BOWLING: Stacy dominates league play

Mike Stacy was the top scorer in each of the three leagues he bowled in last week and also turned in the top series for the week during Sugar & Spice competition.

Stacy blasted the pins for games of 231, 247, and 266 to total 744 and the high honors.

He also was the leader in the Sundowner League with a 710 set and the Red River League with a score of 259-702.

The affable and low key Stacy is one of the better league bowlers I have seen in Victoria and I have been asked if he is the best ever to bowl locally.

In my opinion, he needs to show that dominance in tournament play to be considered one of the best ever from Victoria. With the city and state tournaments coming up soon he can move up the ranks as one of best.

T.J. Mooney posted the second high series while competing in the Sugar & Spice League also with a 253 high game helping towards a 720 series. He also rolled a 286 game and 690 set in another league.

Dave Matthews also broke the 700 mark with a 256-705 and posted a 670 total in another league.

Other scores of note for the men were Scott Snow (277-680), DoLee Knowlan (279-671), Bob Korczynski (671), Steve Zeplin (670/670), Rene Silger (278-657), Tony Guinn (254-657), Victor Thomas (657), Joey Matson (657), Kenny Schupbach (656), Michael Rodriguez (266-654), David Loya (650), Mike Osterson (650), Mike Conchola (649), Gary Hatter Jr. (257), Darryl Mergele (256), Miles Michalec (256), and Jamar Bryant (253).

Lynda Mikulec topped the women's high score with a very nice 648 series during Sugar & Spice League play.

She rolled games of 212, 235, and 201 for her total.

JoAnna Sanders was the only other woman to break the 600 mark this week with a 214 game helping towards a 608 set.

Other nice scores were Rebekah Martinez (216-598), Michelle Bonuz (212-589), Ginger Yeater (589), Sharon Guinn (232-581), and Linda Cooper (243).

Vera Cruz Restaurant bowers for the week were Mike Stacy 744 (Sugar & Spice) and Ginger Yeater 718 (Sundowners).
