Ex-Generals off to good college starts

Four members of the Victoria Generals have gotten off to successful starts for their college teams this season.

Pitcher Daniel Tunchez, a Memorial graduate, did not allow an earned run in his first two appearances for Eastfield College.

Tunchez gave up five hits and struck out seven in his nine innings of work.

Pitchers Dallas Ponder, Jeremy Flores and Denver Diefenbach have helped Texas A&M-Kingsville get off to a 6-1 start and earn a No. 20 ranking in the D2baseballnews.com poll.

Ponder, a Flatonia graduate, is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 13 innings.

Flores, a Memorial graduate, has two saves and has not allowed an earned run in five innings.

Diefenbach, a St. Joseph graduate, has two saves and a 1.86 ERA.
