Victoria man sentenced to life in prison after admitting sexual assault
A judge sentenced a Victoria man to life in prison Wednesday after he admitted to sexually assaulting a 6-year-old.
Shawn Richard Boutin, 19, pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child Monday. The incidents occurred Feb. 1, 2012, March 1, and June 1, according to the indictment.
On Monday, he was also charged with and pleaded guilty to the continuous sexual abuse of the same child - then 4 years old - over a four-month period, officials said.
Boutin received a life sentence for each of the four counts.
Boutin's attorney, Jerry Clark, could not be reached for comment.
Assistant District Attorney Johna Stallings said a relative of the victim alerted police.
Boutin will not be eligible for parole. He also did not have a prior criminal history, Stallings said.
Assistant District Attorney Pink Dickens prosecuted the case with Stallings. Judge Robert C. Chesire of the 377th District Court presided over the two-day bench trial.
