St. Joseph relay finishes 7th at TAPPS state meet

The St. Joseph girls 200-yard freestyle relay, of Abigail Schneider, Chris Chang, Kristen Fisher and Kimberly Parma, took seventh at the TAPPS Division II state swimming and diving meet.

SAN ANTONIO - The St. Joseph girls 200-yard freestyle relay team finished seventh at the TAPPS Division II State Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at the Josh Davis Natatorium.

The team of Abigail Schneider, Chris Chang, Kristen Fisher and Kimberly Parma had a time of 2 minutes 1.94 seconds.

Alex Ferrell also qualified for the championship finals for St. Joseph, finishing eighth in the boys 50 freestyle in a time of 24.32 seconds.

Ferrell also finished 11th in the 100 freestyle in a time of 55.55.

Ferrell swam a leg on the boys 200 freestyle relay team with Joshua Hunter, Owen Gwosdz and James Chang that finished 13th in a time of 1:57.41, and he joined Andrew Bernhard, Gwosdz and Chang on the 200 medley relay that finished 14th in a time 2:13.21.

Schneider, Chang, Fisher and Parma also finished ninth in the girls 200 medley relay in a time of 2:20.89.

Elizabeth Nelson finished 13th for St. Joseph in the girls 200 individual medley, and Parma was 14th in the girls 100 backstroke in a time of 1:17.90.
