Beverly Tomek recently joined the University of Houston-Victoria as an assistant professor in the school of Arts and Sciences. She teaches history, specializing in civil rights from the colonial era to present. Tomek holds a doctorate from UH.
Francis Manning recently was hired as the senior secretary in the University of Houston-Victoria Counseling Center. She is responsible for scheduling student appointments and other office duties. Before joining UHV, she worked at Senior Flexonics Pathway in New Braunfels and was in the U.S. Army.
Mark Ward Sr., an assistant professor of communication at the University of Houston-Victoria, recently published a chapter titled "Air of the King: Evangelicals and Radio" in the edited volume "Evangelical Christians and Popular Culture: Pop Goes the Gospel, Vol. 1." It was released in January by Praeger Publishers. The chapter details the history of religious radio in America during the past century up to the present.
