The Victoria Livestock Show opens this week, there will be many things to do to keep those attending busy.
Those attending the show for the first time may be interested in seeing animals they normally would not see up close.
Away from the animals, the show offers an assortment of activities for visitors to take in.
For $3, event goers will be able to meet and talk to vendors from auto dealers to jewelry dealers. This may help the shopper get ideas for gifts.
if gifts are not the preference, musical entertainment will also be part of the show. The music is not just for adults as a youth dance will also be part of the show.
"I encourage (people) to see the animals and see what the stock show is about," said Katelyn Gutierrez, 18, who participated in last year's livestock competition. "It's not just people coming to raise animals. People are raising money for college."
Students competing in the livestock show are competing to place high enough to make the auction, so they can sell their animal.
Gutierrez competed in the livestock show for five years. Though she's not participating this year, she plans to attend.
For her, attending the fair brings back fond memories of spending time at the annual show.
This year could be the start of new memories for those new to the show. For those continuing the tradition attending the show, the memory will live on.
