Editor, the Advocate:
I enjoyed so much the recent article by Dianna Wray and pictures taken by Angeli Wright on the "Egypt House." What an historical gem! Mrs. Kellman has done her part in keeping it beautiful. Now, she finds it is time to move on.
The article reminds me of a house in San Jose, Calif., which I had a chance to visit. It also has a mystery addition to the house which is called the "Door to Nowhere." If you would step out, you would be stepping onto a part of the roof. I found a picture of it in a folder I have on the "Winchester Mystery House." The Egypt House, according to the newspaper article of Feb. 20, had a "sidewalk to nowhere."
I would love to see an historical group buy this home and restore it to the past. Also, open the house and grounds for tours in our historical area in Wharton County. Everyone loves to walk through old homes, seeing what it was like in the past. If we can preserve some of our country's history, we are a handshake away from that time.
