A Victoria man was taken to Citizens Medical Center after a collision Friday afternoon near South Laurent Street.
A Peak Oil Field Service truck-tractor was exiting from U.S. Highway 59 South toward South Laurent Street when the driver, Clarence Woodrow Franklin II, 32, of Victoria, saw that traffic was stacked up at the light and slowed his vehicle, Victoria Police Officer Luke Thompson said.
Allen Michael Ramirez, 20, also of Victoria, exited the freeway behind Franklin. Ramirez saw that the truck-tractor was slowing and attempted to slow his red Chevrolet pickup truck and the trailer attached to it hauling trash. He applied his brakes, slowing the truck, but a device that attached the trailer malfunctioned, causing the trailer to collide with the back of the Chevrolet truck.
This pushed the front of the Chevrolet into the back of the truck-tractor, Thompson said.
Franklin was transported to Citizens Medical Center.
No citations were issued, Thompson said.
