West boys fall short at Calallen

CORPUS CHRISTI - James Murphy led Victoria West with 20 points, but the Warriors struggled to keep up with Calallen, falling to 1-2 in district play with a 50-45 loss on Friday night.

Murphy was the only scorer for the Warriors (11-10) in double figures. The next highest was Ruben Trevino (7) followed by Darien Henry (6).

Victoria West is next in action at home on Tuesday against Tuloso-Midway.



EAST 67, SINTON 33

SINTON - Xavier Ellis led all scorers with 16 points and was one of four Titans' players in double figures as East cruised by Sinton, 67-33, on Friday evening in non-district action.

Also in double figures for the Titans (9-11) was Jaylen Wilson with 15, Christian Herring with 10 and Justin Shaw with 12.

The Titans led 26-12 at haltime. East is at home on Tuesday to take on Calhoun.



GIRLS BASKETBALLCALALLEN 52, WEST 50

CORPUS CHRISTI - Despite game-high Mercedes Ellison's 23 points and three 3-pointers and 15 points from Allison Dlouhy, Calallen edged out Victoria West 52-50 on Friday night.

Lauren Rodriguez added six for the Warriors.



ST. JOSEPH 76, LOUISE 27

LOUISE - Kensey Marshall drained three 3-pointers and led all scorers with 13 points as the Lady Flyers had no trouble with Louise, winning 76-27 on Friday.

Marshall was one of three players in double figures for St. Joseph, joined by Madison Foeh (12) and Katie Degand (11).

Also scoring for the Flyers was Chloe Shoemake, who hit a 3-pointer and had 9 points, and Kalyn Hempel, who also had 9 points.
