Their story was submitted by Leisha Dioguardi.
“The fact that I was flying back to Texas in a week and that Guy lived in Australia, talk about a geography problem! I knew we had some serious obstacles, but also knew that Guy Dioguardi was everything I looked for in a person.” – Leisha Dioguardi
What is the most romantic moment you've shared as a couple?
Guy: We were going to the Twelve Apostles in Australia, which is along a beach with giant limestone walls. We were walking hand-in-hand and we put the camera down to run after the waves. We came running back away from a big wave and it washed our camera away.
Leisha: On one of our first dates in Australia, Guy took me to the Dandenong Mountains. We had an incredible date and I remember thinking he was the right man for me.
What is your favorite thing about your partner?
Guy about Leisha: Her long legs. They're a good-looking pair of legs. It's the first thing I noticed about her when I first saw her.
Leisha about Guy: His smile, his laugh and his humor. He is just full of warmth and makes everyone laugh.
When did you know you were going to spend the rest of your lives together?
Guy: When I came to see her in the United States on April 27, 1992. We both decided we should have a house in downtown and that's when it went "ding!"
Leisha: I think it was that point on the mountain, when I knew that he was the man I was going to marry. I knew we had just met, but I felt differently about him versus other people I had dated before.
How would your family and friends describe the two of you as a couple?
Guy: Crazy. We're both very loud and headstrong, but in the end she's more bossy than I am.
Leisha: Loving and stable. And they say we kiss too much in public.
What's the wildest thing you and your partner have ever done together?
Guy: In 1997, we renovated a house. She picked the house, we walked in and there was no staircase. She said we had to buy the house and we spent five years re-building it.
Leisha: I would have to agree with Guy. Some of our renovation projects have been beyond imagination for most people. On one of our projects, we had numerous people in need of work offer to help us "tear it down," instead we chose to re-build something beautiful.
What traditions do you have when celebrating your anniversary?
Guy: We don't have a place or theme, but last year, we went to the Bahamas. We like to break away from everything and focus on each other.
Leisha: Guy doesn't give flowers on just special occasions, so it's special all the time. Out anniversary is so close to my birthday that he makes sure that both days are special usually taking a trip out of town.
