What is the most romantic moment you've shared as a couple?
Being married in Provincetown, Mass.
What is your favorite thing about your partner?
Bruce about Jacob: Jacob is one of the most rational persons I have ever met and is always there to give me sound advice, and he's my best friend who always supports me. I always know no matter what life throws at me that Jacob has my back. He is my protector.
Jacob about Bruce: Bruce is one of the most giving men I have ever met. He's one of those people who knows what you need even before you need it. He constantly encourages me and is my biggest fan and cheerleader. I don't think I would have accomplished most of what I've been able to in these past nine years without him.
When did you know you were going to spend the rest of your lives together?
We have been through richer and poorer, through sickness and health and through better and worse. We feel that our love has seen us through it all, and that has held us steadfast to one another.
How do you think your family and friends would describe the two of you as a couple?
That's actually an easy question to answer. We are always having friends and strangers coming up to us and telling us how they can see how much we love one another. So, it would be that even after nine years and even though we often are not able to show our love openly at times, that you can still see the love between us. We are best friends, and people can see the love, respect and admiration we have for each other.
What's the wildest thing you and your partner have ever done together?
Let's just say that we were in Amsterdam and we went looking for one thing and found something completely different. We exited very quickly and went to the Anne Frank museum instead.
What traditions do you have when celebrating your anniversary?
We try to spend our anniversaries in Provincetown, Mass., on Cape Cod, which is a very special place for us. It is where we were married, after all.
