Wednesday morning rains continue

Officially, Victoria had received about a 1/2 inch of rain by 6 a.m. Wednesday, but the wet stuff was still falling and expected to continue through the morning with possible lightning and brief gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday's forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain. High near 71. East southeast wind 16 to 21 mph becoming north northwest 8 to 13 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph.

Partly cloudy Wednesday night, with a low around 47. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Flash flood watches have been issued for Jackson, Matagorda and Wharton counties.
