St. Mary's Altar Society met Jan. 14 in the Activity Center, 401 E. Power St.
President Al Bomba called the meeting to order and the Rev. Dan Morales led the invocation. Bomba thanked all that brought gifts and donated to the Gabriel Project.
Stella Silva volunteered to serve on the audit committee. Charlotte Sartor is still taking membership dues.
The parish meal and membership recruitment was Jan. 13 after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. It was attended by many parishioners. Ten joined the society; three of these were couples. It was a joyful occasion.
Thank you to all the members that helped decorate the church for the Christmas season, especially Brandy and Ryan Leos, students. Also, to the thank you to those that helped dismantle in January.
The Coffee and Donut Social is Sunday, Jan. 20 after the 8 a.m. Mass.
Altar care for February will be Margaret Clegg and Bernice Kurtz.
The society voted to purchase an ambry to place the holy oils in.
The parish festival is Feb. 10 at the Victoria Community Center. The altar society is in charge of the cake wheel, chaired by Patti Stevens and Susie Stevens. The parish is asked to help bring the cakes.
The society will cook the first Lenten meal Feb. 15. Mary Ann Vivion will chair the event. Food will be served after the 6:30 Stations of the Cross.
Hostesses for today were Sandy Brzozowske, Jo Ann Bone and Susie Stevens.
Sandra Maxwell won the door prize.
Deacon Jim Koenig gave the benediction, and the club adjourned for a social hour.
