Van Vleck grad sets A&M-Kingsville record

LUBBOCK - C.J. Griggs set a Texas A&M-Kingsville record in the triple jump at the Masked Rider Open on Saturday at Texas Tech's Athletic Training Center.
Griggs, a Van Vleck graduate, finished third in the triple jump at 50 feet 1 3/4 inches, which is a personal-best indoors.
Griggs was also third in the long jump with a leap of 22-7 1/4.
Texas A&M-Kingsville's Amber Perry, a Goliad graduate, finished sixth in the 600-yard run in a time of 58.99 seconds.
Memorial graduate Samantha Alvarez placed 10th in the high jump by clearing 5-3 1/4.
Goliad graduate Brianna Bartosch was 14th in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.62 seconds.
Palacios graduate Tezna Roy was a member of the Javelinas' women's distance medley relay team that finished seventh in a time of 13:17.33.
