Bronte Club members hear from genealogist

The meeting of Bronte Club of Victoria was called to order by President Jamie McMahon at 3 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Victoria Women's Club House.

The Bronte Club members were lead in the club collect and pledges of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and the Texas flag.

Bronte member Barbara Smith introduced the guest speaker Dr. Martha Everman Jones, genealogy teacher and lecturer. Jones gave a very informative program of the Civilian Conservation Corps and all the many ways it benefited the lives of the men who participated in the work program, as well as their families. The good works that were accomplished during 1933-39 of the Corps' existence has withstood the test of time and are still a benefit to all Americans today.

McMahon reminded members of the next meeting, a guest day meeting, at 3 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Victoria Women's Club House. The home life program, "Entertaining Essentials - Love Being the Hostess," will be presented by Chef Molly Fowler.

The meeting was adjourned for the tea hour presented by hostesses Lawaine Stubblefield, Loraine Dismuke, Jan Hamilton and Ruth Williams.
