Editor, the Advocate:

We had an interesting "That Man is You" conference. The speaker told the story of a man who had reformed his life, but before that he had managed an expensive strip club. Young girls, fresh out of high school, would come looking for a job as a waitress.

You know, fathers, you should take note; when you think about committing adultery, you not only hurt your wife, but also your children. Girls need a father, and nothing does more to harm children than does a divorce. Our courts are trying to destroy marriage. In most cases it is really not divorce, but "spousal abandonment."

Anyway, girls, 17 or 18, would come to the manager, and he would hire them as a waitress - and within a week or two would have them hooked on drugs. A month later, he would get them on stage to strip.

When women came to the club looking for their husbands and crying that they were being evicted because he was spending all their money at the club, and their credit cards were all used up, he would embarrass them by announcing, "Hey Joe, your ball and chain is here!"

After a year or two on stage, the girl, now probably 20, would be moved upstairs to where the big money is made. After a couple of years, customers would be looking for someone new, her drug use was getting too expensive and she no longer looked beautiful. Then she would be let out on the street and a new batch of high school girls would be hired.

She would find herself almost used up at 22. Prostitutes on the street only last two to five years. Along the way, she would probably have killed two or three unborn babies through abortion, stolen many things and totally abused her body with drugs.

And this was all because a father was not home to take care of his little girl.

P.S. - The Candlelight March for Life is Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at De Leon Plaza.
