Luling man dies in hospital after Gonzales County crash

A Luling man died Tuesday in a hospital after a two-vehicle crash Monday near Shiner, said Department of Public Safety officials.
William Darrell Jones, 47, was driving a Ford pickup truck west on U.S. Highway 90 Alternate at 6:45 p.m. when he attempted to pass a tractor-trailer turning left onto Farm-to-Market Road 443, according to the accident report.
He struck the trailer and was taken to University Hospital in San Antonio, where he died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Jones was wearing his seat belt, according to the report.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Albert Campos, of Corpus Christi, was not injured.
