Laughter can make us feel good, it can make us cry and it can help you win a signed copy of Sherman Alexie's "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven," and have your story printed in the Victoria Advocate.
Write a 500- to 700-word short story with a comedic yet therapeutic theme. Send it to firstname.lastname@example.org with "Laughter as Medicine," in the subject line by 5 p.m. Monday. Entries should include the writer's full name, city of residence and a daytime phone number.
The contest is held in conjunction with Alexie's Feb. 7 talk as part of the Victoria College's Lyceum Series.
VC, the Victoria Public Library and the Victoria Advocate are hosting the contest. For more information, email Lisa DeVries at Lisa.DeVries@victoriacollege.edu or Carolina Astrain at email@example.com.
