Hegar, Morrison receive legislative assignments
The Texas Legislature on Thursday announced Senate and House assignments for the 83rd Legislative Session.
Sen. Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, whose district includes most of the Crossroads area, was named to five committees, four of which he was part of during the previous session, according to the Texas Legislature's website.
Hegar's repeat assignments include serving as member of the Committee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Homeland Security; the Committee of the Whole Senate; the Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Nominations. He was also named a member of the Committee on Finance.
During the 82nd Legislature, Hegar also served as vice chairman of the Committee on Government Organization and as a member of the Committee on Criminal Justice.
Rep. Geanie Morrison, R-Victoria, was named chairwoman of the Committee on Elections and member of the Committee on Insurance for the upcoming legislative session.
During the 82nd session, Morrison served as vice chairwoman of the Committee on Human Services, member of the Committee on Appropriations and member of the appropriations committee's subcommittee on Article III.
