Former VISD teacher, coach receives doctorate

Ronny D. Knox, former teacher/coach and administrator for the Victoria Independent School District earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches on May 11. He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Houston-Victoria and began his teaching/coaching career at Victoria High School in 1991. Knox moved to Gonzales in 1996 to become an offensive coordinator for Leonard McAngus. In 1997 Knox was named principal of Gonzales Junior High where he served until 2000. He came back to Victoria to serve as chancellor for Faith Academy from 2000 until 2002. He then returned to Victoria ISD to serve as a special education coordinator until 2005. Knox moved to Nacogdoches in 2006 to serve as the director of student services and was promoted to assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Knox is currently serving as the associate superintendent for finance and operations. He is the son of Bobby and Kathy Knox, of Victoria, and the brother of Dawn Maroney, who was recently named principal of Stroman Middle School.
