The Fourth of July parade marches down the circle around the flagpole at the Fourth of July celebrations in Cuero.

Wearing stars and stripes of red, white and blue, children marched, rode and pedaled in a Fourth of July parade on Thursday morning at the Cuero City Park Pavilion.

Carson Lenhart, 5, of Victoria, decorated his bicycle with flags on the front and back. Connor Thigpen, 4, of Cuero, got some help from his sister to outfit his tractor, which he drove in the parade with a jaunty, patriotic hat and Superman shirt.

After the parade, attendees were able to play games, get face paintings and eat blue and red snow cones.

Katie Drehr, 17, wore her Miss Cuero 2013 crown and enjoyed the festivities. "We're here to celebrate with our town," she said.

Elsewhere in the Crossroads, residents gathered to shoot off their own fireworks at Saxet Lake Park.

The July Fourth celebrations continue this weekend. See Page B4 for a schedule of events and more photos.
