An Angleton woman was transported Sunday to Citizens Medical Center with minor injuries after a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 59 North and Fox Road.

Virginia Marquez, 72, was a passenger in a Toyota RAV4 when the driver of the Toyota, Miguel Marquez III, failed to control his speed and struck the vehicle in front of him, causing the cars to spin, said Trooper Jeremiah Collins of the Department of Public Safety.

Miguel was cited for failure to control speed, Collins said.

No one else was injured, but both lanes of traffic were closed and funneled onto the shoulder.
