Editor, the Advocate:
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Larry Shook, the former art instructor at Victoria College. He was my instructor for several classes back in the mid-70s and he made a great and lasting impression on me.
My experience in art classes in junior high (mainly the lack of discipline) made me not want to take any in high school. It was nice to have a knowledgeable teacher that knew how to interact with his students. As I moved on the SWTSU, I wished that more of the art instructors there had been more like Mr. Shook.
My condolences to his family and my thanks for what he passed on to me.
My mother was a teacher, and I know how hard that can be. He will be remembered, and I think of him often.
