June ends with record heat

June almost sneaked by as uneventful weather-wise.

Then the heat came.

June 28 and 29 were both record days for high temperatures.

The high of 102 on June 28 topped the existing record of 101 set in 2009. The 109 on June 29 blew away the previous record of 102, also set in 2009, and is the hottest June day ever.

It "cooled off" to 97 on June 30, nowhere near the record of 104 set in 1937.
