Previous cat owner should be ashamed
Editor, the Advocate:
To the person or persons who abandoned the male Siamese-mix cat on my street, shame on you! This poor cat made his way to my front porch Friday afternoon. When I looked closely at him, I was appalled at what I saw. This cat was skin and bones. He didn't get this way overnight. He was so weak he could barely eat anything or drink any water that I offered him.
I took him into my home over the weekend so he would at least be cool. It was obvious he had been somebody's pet. He enjoyed the petting I gave him even in his weakened state.
I took him to my vet Monday morning to see if he could be helped. His condition was so critical that he could not be saved, so I had to make the heart-wrenching decision to put him to sleep in order to end his suffering - and yes, he was suffering. After I got off the phone with the vet, I sat down and cried for this innocent cat that was treated so cruelly.
Thank you to Dr. Culberson, as always, for your advice and compassion in caring for this poor cat.
To whoever allowed this to happen to this cat, I hope karma comes back to bite you. If you are not willing or able to love and care for an animal for the duration of its life, then don't get a pet!
