Area schools compete at State 7-on-7 tournament

LEANDER - Two schools from the Crossroads area will advance to the championship bracket at the State 7-on-7 Tournament on Friday.
East Bernard went undefeated in Pool E play, while Rice Consolidated finished second in Pool P with a 2-1 record.
The Brahmas won their first two games by a margin of 58 points but fought a close 21-20 victory against Canton in the final game.
Rice will face the reigning Class 3A state champion Stephenville (3-0, Pool H) in the first round of the Div. II championship bracket at 9 a.m. East Bernard, the reigning Class 2A state champion, will face Wimberley (2-1, Pool M).
While a pair of teams heads to the championship bracket, another pair is headed to the consolation bracket's 8 a.m. first round games.
Edna, who lost all three games in Pool H play, will face Grandview (1-2, Pool P), and Yoakum (1-2, Pool I) will face Iraan (0-3, Pool A).
