Crossroads Area Dental Conference is Aug. 9

Attendees of the 2011 Crossroads Area Dental Conference listen to presentations in the Health Science Center at Victoria College.

Dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and others interested in dental health are invited to attend the Crossroads Area Dental Conference on Aug. 9.

The conference will be from 7:45 a.m.-3:20 p.m. on Victoria College's Main Campus in the Health Sciences Center, Room 131. The $60 registration fee includes instructional materials and lunch. The deadline to register is Aug. 6.

Conference topics will include prevention of microbe colonization in the mouth, antimicrobial resistant organisms, routine oral wound care, infection prevention and control in the dental office and preventive dental care in the current health care delivery environment.

Presenters will be:

Dr. John Hall, retired from practice in general dentistry and now works with MCMP, Grand Prairie, where he is involved in product development, clinical trials and education

DiAnna Harris, a nurse with the Victoria City-County Health Department

Dr. James Quartey, director of the dental department of the South Central Texas Community Health Centers

Conference attendees will earn seven contact hours of continuing education credit.

The conference is sponsored by Victoria College's Workforce & Continuing Education Department and the Guadalupe Valley District Dental Society.
