The Doctor is In: Blood sugar and weight problems? Maybe you're not a fat burner

Obesity is a growing epidemic in the United States, affecting an increasing percentage of people, even children. What is causing this alarming trend in our society? It's not just from eating too many calories. To lose and keep off weight, you have to be a fat burner.

The body can burn two things for its energy: either sugar or fat. In other words, you are either a sugar burner or a fat burner. A fat burner maintains an ideal weight, while a sugar burner has blood sugar problems, packs on the pounds and craves more sugar and starches. These killers provide the cells of a sugar burner's body with the only fuel it can burn for energy, and sugars and starches get converted to fat.

So how did we become a nation of sugar burners? A sugar burner is stuck in sugar-burning mode and has weight-loss resistance. This person cannot lose weight and keep it off - no matter what is tried, not even with starvation diets, or HCG, Zumba, insanity exercises or whatever the latest fad is.

Weight-loss resistance occurs when the body's cells become inflamed. Inflammation of the cells occurs because of toxins in the body that disrupt cellular function and energy production.

Nutrients cannot get into feed the cells, and wastes cannot get out. This damages the genes inside your cells, causing your body to express bad genes that result in obesity and other killer diseases.

A hormone called leptin, which is produced from fat cells, normally tells the brain to burn fat. Cells in the brain that normally respond to leptin and shut off hunger get damaged by the inflammation caused by sugars and other toxins in the body.

This leads to leptin resistance, and the fat doesn't get burned. You stay a sugar burner, and a sugar burner burns up his or her muscles for energy, not the fat. A toxic person cannot burn fat. To become a fat burner, we must remove inflammation and toxicity to allow leptin to work and to turn off the fat genes inside the damaged cells.

Examples of toxins that cause this damage include bad fats, grains, sugar, starches, chemicals and biotoxins such as Lyme's bacteria, viruses and molds. Fortunately, the damage to the cells can usually be reversed with a good, clinically supervised detoxification. In many cases, converting the body from a sugar burner metabolism to a fat burner metabolism requires a scientifically-designed cellular detoxification that takes about two months to reduce toxins, inflammation and allow cellular damage to heal.

It is important to assess the inflammatory damage that toxins are having on the brain and nervous system. Especially important is the hypothalamus is in the brain. The hypothalamus controls the functions of the body automatically at a set point, which acts as a kind of thermostat.

This biological thermostat keeps your body weight at a certain level. The hypothalamus in turn controls the pituitary, then the pituitary controls the thyroid gland.

The thyroid has a major impact on your body's metabolism and appetite. Testing should be done to evaluate for any adverse effect of toxins on the hypothalamus.

Toxicity testing can assist in the design of a detoxification program that is specific for any patient. A simple urine test can quickly determine the level of inflammation in the body.

Blood tests may be needed to determine the level of leptin and also detect markers in the body for inflammation and toxicity that prevents leptin from working and keeps the body in sugar burning mode.

It is important to realize how important this is to overall health because cellular inflammation affects not only your weight but can also affects your vital organs, putting you at risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, fibromyalgia, mood disorders, hormone imbalance and cancer.
