Fire department quickly extinguishes kitchen fire

Fire

VICTORIA - No one was injured in a kitchen fire in the 300 block of Avenue C, said Victoria Fire Department Battalion Chief Roger Hempel. A fire started in the oven, but firefighters had the Sunday afternoon fire out with a fire extinguisher shortly after arrival.

Burglarized

VICTORIA - John Wesley United Methodist Church in 8300 Northeast Zac Lentz Parkway on Saturday. Tools and a generator were reported stolen.

Sentenced

VICTORIA - Justin Murillo, 23, of Victoria, to 20 months in state jail after his sentence was amended Tuesday in an August 2008 criminal mischief between $1,500 and $20,000 case.

VICTORIA - Joseph Roy, 28, of Bloomington, to nine years in prison after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to indecency with a child by sexual contact.

VICTORIA - Ryan Samora, 20, of Houston, to 10 years probation after he pleaded guilty Wednesday to burglary of a habitation.

VICTORIA - Sarah Lynn Valdez, 22, of Victoria, to two years probation and 80 hours of community service after she pleaded guilty Wednesday to credit card or debit card abuse.

VICTORIA - Thomas Medellin III, 35, of Victoria, to five years probation and 80 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty Wednesday to possessing between 4 ounces and 5 pounds of marijuana.

VICTORIA - Armando Ray Garza, 21, of Victoria, to two years in state jail after his probation was revoked Wednesday in an August 2011 unauthorized use of a vehicle charge.

VICTORIA - Tommy Lee Rodriguez, 25, of Victoria, to four years probation and 300 hours of community service after his probation was extended Wednesday for June 2006 robbery charge. He must also serve 30 days in jail on consecutive weekends if he becomes unemployed or fails to complete his community service hours.

VICTORIA - Preston Lee Williams Jr., 25, of Victoria, to 45 days in county jail to be served on the weekends after his sentence for a November 2007 burglary of a habitation charge was amended Wednesday.
