  • WHAT: Special education parent workshops

    WHEN: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday

    WHERE: Bronte Room, Victoria Public Library, 302 N. Main St.

    COST: Free

Two special education parent workshops will be presented by Partners Resource Network - TEAM Project.

Partners Resource Network is a Parent Training and Information Center funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education - Office of Special Education Programs.

"Transition to Adulthood" will be presented from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

This workshop will provide parents with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act transition requirements for a student with a disability preparing for life after high school.

They will cover important aspects of transition planning, information typically included in a transition plan, how transition plans are developed and by whom and resources for more information on transition.

"Solving the Employment Puzzle for Youth with Disabilities" will be presented from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This workshop will provide parents and youth with practical, hands-on strategies to help reach a student's employment-related transition goals.

Participants will learn about post-secondary services that are available and how to obtain them.

Attend one or both sessions.
