Lavaca County drug bust suspect identified

Lavaca County Sheriff's officials have identified a man they arrested after they discovered more than 450 pounds of marijuana during a Sunday traffic stop.

Hugo Cesar Elizondo-Diaz, 30, of Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, was arrested and charged with possession of between 50 and 2,000 pounds of marijuana, officials confirmed Monday.

He is being held in the Lavaca County jail.

The search for two other people who bailed out of the vehicle at alternate U.S. Highway 77 at Mustang Creek about 11 a.m. Sunday was also called off.
