Nicholas "Niko" Ramirez, who was injured in a motorcycle wreck last week, continues to recover in a San Antonio hospital.
His condition was upgraded to stable Monday, a spokesman at San Antonio Military Medical Center said.
Ramirez, 21, of Victoria, was moved from the hospital's surgical center to a nonsurgical room, said his brother, Michael Ramirez.
Ramirez said his brother is still unresponsive but has shown signs of improvement. Ramirez said his brother could open and blink his eyes.
Nicholas Ramirez also is breathing without the assistance of machines.
Nicholas Ramirez's motorcycle struck the right wheel of a 2008 Suzuki all-terrain vehicle May 26 on Burroughsville Road, causing him to flip over several times before he landed head first in a ditch, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant.
Ramirez was not wearing a helmet, Bryant said.
Last week, the family reached out to its community, asking for prayer.
"It's working," Michael Ramirez said. "The power of prayer is so remarkably strong in the city of Victoria."
