Memorial graduate becomes doctor

Dr. Kristin Rojas, of Victoria, has received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She is a Memorial High School graduate and earned a bachelor's degree from Rice University in 2008. She will begin a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brown University's Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, R.I. Rojas plans to specialize in pelvic reconstructive surgery or gynecological oncology. While at UT Southwestern, she founded and served as president of the Operation Smile Student Organization. Her research interests included pregnant patients with HIV, blood transfusions in trauma surgery, and reconstructive breast surgery. She is the daughter of Julie and Dr. Peter Rojas, of Victoria.
