I was very happy to read that Curtis Short was voted the Most Valuable Volunteer by Theatre Victoria this year. They could not have made a better choice.
I have been involved in theatre, both professionally and as a volunteer, during different parts of my life and have worked with many sound technicians. Curtis is one of the best I have worked with, and he deserves the recognition he is getting.
When I first moved to Victoria about six years ago, I decided to get involved in the community by working on a show with Theatre Victoria. I can honestly say that Curtis was one person who went out of his way to make me feel welcome. Although he is a master at what he does, he does not let it give him an inflated ego or sense of power. He is just a genuinely friendly and accepting person, and Theatre Victoria is lucky to have him as a volunteer.
So, congratulations, Curtis! Hope this "sounds" sincere - because it is!
