Republican Women of Yoakum hear about Second Amendment

June 14, 2013 at 1:14 a.m.

Attending the recent program of the Republican Women of Yoakum are, from left, Brenda Cash, president of RWOY; John Koerner, area representative for Senator Cruz; John Harrington, owner of Shield Tactical; and Helen Appelt, first vice president of RWOY.

At the recent Republican Women of Yoakum meeting, they had an inspiring program pertaining to Second Amendment rights given by John Harrington, owner of Shield Tactical Company.

Harrington asserted that during this time when wrongdoings by the present administration come to the light of day, there is a dire necessity to stand up and speak out to protect the second amendment. He explained that without gun rights, all other rights and protections are worthless.

Citizens who do not speak out and resist tyranny from an out of control government will become fearful and enslaved. There is strength in an informed group of citizens who join together and hold government officials accountable for unconstitutional actions. Harrington is a member of Sen. Ted Cruz's Second Amendment task force, and he will be traveling throughout the state to alert and give the message on the importance of an active, informed citizenship. The Republican Women of Yoakum are thankful and proud that Harrington chose to provide information to area residents.

RWOY meet the first Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Yoakum Community Center. Lunch is served, and visitors are very welcome.

The RWOY will not have a meeting July 3 because of the Fourth of July holiday. The next meeting will be Aug. 7.
