New hours coming to Victoria County Farmers Market

By Victoria Advocate

The Victoria County Farmers Market will soon open a bit earlier.

Starting Saturday, market hours will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., said Veronica Riehs, president of the Victoria County Farmers Market Association. Previously, the market was open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Riehs said the change comes partly because, as the South Texas summer heats up, it keeps people out of the hotter parts of the day.

Also, she said, a number of shoppers arrive before the 9 a.m. opening and find themselves waiting as the vendors set up.

"This just made more sense," Riehs said.

The farmers market is open Tuesdays and Saturdays in the parking lot of the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center, 2805 N. Navarro St.
