A late-night phone call was a welcome sight for one longtime Victoria educator. It alerted Lisa Blundell that she was Victoria East High School's new principal.
"It was after 11 p.m. when the superintendent notified me by phone, congratulated me and wished me the best of luck," she said of the Thursday night ring. "I'm very excited."
Blundell was one of seven new principals named to Victoria schools following a closed session during Thursday night's monthly school board meeting.
She replaces Greg Crockett, who took a position as Cuero Junior High School's principal.
Blundell has 25 years of experience with the Victoria district under her belt. Her most recent role, as principal of Cade Middle School, lasted three years.
She said she looks forward to working with the high school's strong and talented staff, and working to improve both test scores and attendance.
"Most of all, I would like to continue with the traditions they have established," she said, noting the school is known throughout the community for its spirit. "I'm looking forward to being a Titan."
