US 59 expansion to add frontage roads
The Texas Transportation Commission has approved nearly $15 million for the expansion of a portion of U.S. 59.
Hunter Industries Ltd. was awarded the project that will construct frontage roads along a 3.5-mile stretch of U.S. 59 from Loop 463 to U.S. 87 in Victoria.
“As Texas roadways become increasingly crowded, we must find ways to relieve congestion without compromising safety,” said Phil Wilson, Texas Department of Transportation executive director. “Keeping travelers moving safely and efficiently will continue to be an ongoing priority as Texas welcomes nearly 1,000 newcomers each day.”
Construction is expected to begin by October and be completed by April 2015.
