Generals down Marshals, snap losing streak

DALLAS - Daniel Tunchez pitched six innings to lead the Victoria Generals to a 6-2 win over the Texas Marshals on Tuesday night at the Jesuit High School.

Tunchez, a Memorial graduate, struck out five and scattered 11 hits and picked up his first win of the season.

Romeo Cortina had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Generals, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Jordan Camel also had three hits, including a double, for Victoria.

Brandon Hannon, Jace Reese, and J.D. Stinnett each had two hits.

Hannon also stole three bases to bring his league-leading total to 17.

J.P. Clifton made his first mound appearance for the Generals and tossed two scoreless innings before Kaleb Keith pitched a perfect ninth inning.

The teams return to Jesuit for the final game of the series at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
