Food service inspections
The Victoria City-County Health Department Environmental Health Division inspects places where food is served in Victoria, DeWitt, Jackson and Calhoun counties.
In the inspection reports, each violation in the Food Temperature/Time Requirements category is 5 demerits; in the Personnel/Handling/Source Requirements category, 4 demerits; and in the Facility and Equipment Requirements, 3 demerits. Zero is a perfect score, while 100 demerits is the worst possible score.
Each Wednesday, the Advocate publishes inspection results from the previous week. All demerits are reported, but only those in the categories of Food Temperature/Time Requirements and Personnel/Handling/Source Requirements are detailed.
FOOD SERVICE INSPECTIONS FOR WEEK ENDING JUNE 21
Downtown Grill and Catering, 125 E. Constitution St., Victoria. Demerits: 11. Improper cold-hold temperature. Use licensed pest control only. Clean the ice machine. Store the ice scoop on a clean, sanitized surface. Two facility or equipment violations.
Mama's Kitchen, 31 N. Byer St., Port O'Connor. Demerits: 7. Improper cold-hold temperature. Date-label deli meat with a seven-day use-by date. Wash, rinse and sanitize dishes. Sanitizer is too strong. One facility or equipment violation.
Sonic Drive-In No. 4798, 3603 John Stockbauer Drive, Victoria. Demerits: 4. Improper cold-hold temperature. Wash hands between tasks.

Art's Fish House, 711 S. state Highway 35 Bypass, Port Lavaca, inspected June 5 with 19 demerits. Reinspected June 12 with all violations corrected.
Best Western Inn, 2202 N. state Highway 35, Port Lavaca, inspected May 28 with 15 demerits. Reinspected June 12 with cold-hold violation not corrected. They are getting a new refrigerator on the following Monday.
La Antigua, 737 N. state Highway 35, Port Lavaca, inspected June 11 with 41 demerits. Reinspected June 12 with all violations corrected.
Times Market No. 101, 630 N. Virginia St., Port Lavaca, inspected May 13 with 12 demerits. Reinspected June 12 with violation continuing to be addressed. All potentially hazardous foods have been taken out to another cooler. They are only storing prepackaged drinks and beer in the walk-in.
Don Jose Mexican Restaurant, 2902 E. Airline Road, inspected June 4 with 9 demerits. Reinspected June 17 with violations corrected.
